چکیده
Submit Manuscript | http://medcraveonline.com aortic stenosis treated surgically with biological prostheses in the last years, treatment of degenerative biological valves is one of the main current and future areas of TAVI expansion. The degeneration may occur in both stenosis and regurgitation, although most often is mixed. The main mechanisms, which represent the leading causes of reoperation, are: calcification, fracture, pannus formation and valve thrombosis. Nowadays, reoperation represents the standard treatment for degenerate biological prostheses, involving a considerable risk in terms of morbidity and mortality (3%). Reoperation mortality in patients at high surgical risk may exceed 20%. In these patients, TAVI is an alternative and a much less invasive therapeutic option.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: A Review Article
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a novel therapeutic intervention for the replacement of severely stenotic aortic valves in high-risk patients for standard surgical procedures. Since the initial PARTNER trial results, use of TAVR has been on the rise each year. New delivery methods and different valves have been developed and modified in order to promote the minimally invasive p...

Ma Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has become a safe and effective therapy for patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS). In recent trials, the hemodynamic performance and clinical outcomes of the latest generation of TAVR devices demonstrated at least parity with surgical outcomes in patients of similar risk. Many initial obstacles with TAVR have largely been overcome, including ...
